LAGOS, NIGERIA A Nigerian man who wishes to remain anonymous has made a substantial donation to aid the renovation of schools in certain states in Nigeria. The British-Nigeria Education Trust (BNET) announced that the man donated one million pounds sterling (about N250 million) to Kings College in Lagos and Edo College in Benin in 2012.

The High Commissioner of Nigeria in the UK, Dr. Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, expressed gratitude for the donation, saying, "We thank you for your contribution. Without your help, we will not have been where we are today." He also commended BNET for promoting trade and investment between Britain and Nigeria.

The donation will be used to renovate classrooms, purchase new books and equipment, provide scholarships for deserving students, and extend to agriculture for certain schools in some states, as well as the renovation of toilets and bathrooms for boarding houses. BNET Chairman, Peter Gregson, said that the trust is "already in discussion" with the schools to identify major projects that the donation can be used for. He also revealed that part of the money would be set aside for scholarship schemes for the less privileged students.

The man visited various schools in person to present the donation and meet with the staff and students. During his visits, he spoke about the importance of education and the role it plays in building a brighter future for Nigeria. BNET Director, John Reeves, said, "We have been most encouraged by a recent anonymous donation of one million pounds sterling; the donor has charged us with negotiating the use of this very generous amount of money with two of the major schools in Nigeria."

The impact of the man's generosity has been profound, inspiring others to give back to their communities and support education in Nigeria. Local businesses and organizations have also stepped up to donate their resources and expertise to support the school. BNET is a membership charity that promotes friendship and understanding between Britain and Nigeria through financial support for the education sector in Nigeria.

As we reflect on this act of kindness, we are reminded of the countless individuals who have dedicated their time, resources, and energy to support education and create opportunities for those who may not have access to it. We are filled with gratitude for their selflessness and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in their communities and beyond. May this story serve as a testament to the power of giving back and inspire more individuals to join the cause and work towards a brighter future for all.
