BANGLADESH – Albert Shovon Biswas has devoted much of his life to helping others throughout his country, beginning in Dhaka when he was a student in college. He joined several youth groups, each with a mission to aid the needy. Shovon became involved with various social welfare activities, including the distribution of books and various other commodities to people within his community.

After the death of his father, Shovon returned to his home village to grieve. Even through his grief, he was moved by the suffering of the villagers. Remaining in his home village, he stood beside countless distressed Christian families during their time of need.

He worked to spread awareness about the dire situation of the local families through press conferences and to get assistance from other communities. He also helped illiterate neighbors respond to memos and fill out paperwork. In addition, Shovon created a committee of local people in his home village to encourage brotherhood and community spirit.

Shovon was particularly moved by the plight of the homeless in his village. He gained the support of the local government to help relocate many of the homeless by providing them with a considerable amount of land to make a home. He later used this experience to assist in the management of housing arrangements for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, many of whom had to be relocated.

Through Shovon’s acts of kindness, the wanderers were given a place to call home, the poor received money to live their lives with a roof over their head, and the neglected were shown nothing short of love and compassion in this small village in Bangladesh.
