BETHNAL GREEN, LONDON – Jelly Drops are eye-catching, fun, delicious candy with a twist: they are 95% water. Lewis Hornby was inspired to invent Jelly Drops after his grandmother Pattinson was rushed to the hospital for severe dehydration. He came up with the idea after staying at her care home for a month and realized that many people struggle to drink water. Over the course of 18 months, Jelly Drops was born!

“My 84-year-old mother with Alzheimer’s loves them. It is really difficult at times to get her to eat and drink but there is no problem with these." - Jelly Drops Customer

These colorful sweets come in six juicy flavors and, while providing a good source of hydration, also include vitamins and electrolytes. With a texture similar to jello, they are fun and easy for the elderly with Alzheimer's or Dementia to consume.

While Hornby initially developed this product for his grandmother, he later learned that many other elderly people grapple with this problem. When word got out about his helpful invention, a waitlist for his Jelly Drops quickly filled up. There is now a large market for this product. Customers rave about how much Jelly Drops have improved the lives of their loved ones.

One customer said “Gran really enjoyed them. She said ‘the sweets you got me are delicious’. She is terrible at drinking water usually.” Another told Jelly Drops “my 84-year-old mother with Alzheimer’s loves them. It is really difficult at times to get her to eat and drink but there is no problem with these. It generally takes her about a day to get through a box of them; hence I have now subscribed!”

The Alzheimer's Society has supported this company saying "Alzheimer’s Society has supported the development of Jelly Drops, award-winning bite-sized sweets designed to increase your water intake." They also attest that "Jelly Drops have been helping people with dementia with an easy and tasty way to support their hydration independently."

This incredible story of innovation should serve as inspiration for us all. It shows us that all we need is to see the problems around us and try to do something about it. It is possible to make a difference in the lives of everyone from our local communities to the world.
